The section of the English language

   Our professional credo is: "The professionalism, continuity, searching for new."
   Staff of the department is - a lively, multi-faceted system. And like everything living has its past, present and future. Teachers of the department of languages and literature are - professionals with extensive experience, both in teaching and in the field of translation and interpretation.
   The staff of the department consists of highly qualified specialists who have basic education; most of them are the graduates of top universities of Kazakhstan.
   At present the Department of Languages and Literature has 21 staff positions: the highest category - 8 teachers, the first - 7 teachers, the second - 6 teachers.
   Department of Languages and Literature is divided into section of English and a section of the Kazakh and Russian languages.

Scientific and methodical work of the department

   Our department is working on the following theme "Methods of forming and development of students 'communicative competence', which reflects the main objective of the teachers - the formation and development of communication skills in Kazakh, Russian and foreign languages. Teachers study the nature of the communicative approach in teaching methods, techniques, attend workshops, listen reports. Besides this seminars and workshops, training sessions are held according to the developed subject, based on the requests and difficulties of teachers in a differentiated manner.
   In addition, every teacher works on the theme of self-education and with the results of these activities periodically introduces his colleagues in the form of an open lesson, report, etc. The best experience was presented at the regional level by Legkokonets E.V. In the framework of the Department the experience was summarized by such teachers as Zholkenova G.J. and Adamova G.S. Teachers of the Department successfully conducted seminars for teachers of colleges of the region: «The Discussion as a means of development of communicative skills of the students at the lessons of foreign language», «Artistic searches and traditions in modern poetry and prose. Self-concept of the heroes of the works», «Model of a graduate translator».
   In the conditions of integration of Kazakhstan into the world economy, expansion of international contacts, implementation of joint programmes with other countries in various areas of life the specialists with developed communication skills are needed. Therefore, the teachers of the chair are making great efforts to the development of the interest to the country of the target language, the formation of motivation to study English, Russian, French and Kazakh languages.
   The Department conducts its work by taking into account the latest achievements of the methods and the psychology of learning languages, relying on the theoretical and practical experience of both native and foreign scientists in the field of Philology and pedagogic. 
   Teachers of the Department actively use the following methods of teaching, such as:
• technology of critical thinking;
• Cooperative learning: working in small groups, pairs of line-up changes;
• Reference of abstract notions and logic schemes;
• Traditional methods and techniques (interview, story, lecture, work with the book, exercise, training and monitoring, etc.)
Hheuristic methods and techniques:
• The method of constructing the concepts and rules;
• The method of inventing;
• Method of getting used to: the development of self - concept of heroes of the work;
• Method of figurative paintings;
• Method of "brainstorming";
• A method of problem and key issues;
• The method of reflection;
• A method of self-assessment;
• Method of the particular situation.
   Teachers of the Department are widely use modern information technologies. To conduct effective classes with the students multimedia rooms equipped with modern technology were created in the College.
   The Department is also focused on scientific and methodical work, the result of which is the publication of scientific articles and manuals.

• The methodical manual on lexicology;
• Materials on training and certification of students in Russian language;
• Bases of office work in Kazakh language;
• Dictionary of economic terms;
• Organization and carrying out discussions on the lessons of foreign language;
• Modern approaches to the teaching of literature;
• Manual on practical course of the Russian language;
• Methodic recommendations of pedagogical practice on the specialty «the Kazakh language and the literature;
• Methodological recommendations on organization and conducting professional and pre-graduation practice in the translator speciality;
• A tutorial on the basics of typological research;
• Methodological recommendations on the development of the non-finitel forms of the verbs of the English language;
• Textbook on the theory and practice of translation
   A huge benefit in terms of professional growth brings regular different external courses to raise qualifications, the same result which is a lively and interesting discussion of the latest trends in linguistics and methodology of teaching at meetings of the Department. Chair of languages and literature actively cooperates with the Peace Corps, the volunteers carries out seminars for the teachers of the Department for the Cambridge method of learning a language. In addition teachers attend seminars, working on individual and group scientifically-methodical projects. 
   The sample list of individual projects developed and realized by our teachers:
   The organization of independent work at the lesson.
   The development of students ' communicative competence.
   The use of information-communication technologies in foreign language lessons.
   The use of technology case study on the lessons of the English language.
   Using the web quests on the lessons of the English language.
   The formation of the responsible attitude to the world on the basis of competence approach, etc.

Activity of the after-hour with students –

   Teachers of the department of languages and literature pay great attention to the educational work. Students participate in various events and conferences in the Kazakh, Russian and English languages, etc.
   For example:
   Conference on "Youth and the actual problems" where students made presentations;
   Open classes on the topics: "Scotland and its geographical position", "Meal", "Business organization";
   Extra-curricular activities on the theme: «Halloween», «St Valentine's Day», «April Fool's day»;
   Intellectual games are conducted in a foreign language;
   Contests of expressive reading dedicated to the work of famous poets;
   Day of specialist for students of "Translation Studies", "Primary education", "Kazakh language and literature" faculties.
